On Sunday 17th October at around 2pm (what does time matter when you have reached 60!) Barrie took to the pitch accompanied by his two sons, Oliver and Joshua, his Godson Thomas Martin, close family friend Giuliano Caprioli-Blake, and players he has coached over the years and players he has played alongside. The man-flu that is going around had eliminated some players from turning out, but our wonderful VETS team were there to fill the gaps.
It was a brave move on his part, and was a lot of fun with no major injuries, but a long list for a massage from physio Pippa after the game.
The specator turnout for the game was one that any 1st XV would have been proud of, and a delighted Barrie thanked everyone in the bar afterwards, saying they had helped to make his dream come true - to play alongside his two sons (all three of whom scored tries, albeit some slightly engineered).
We would just like to say a huge thankyou to everyone who turned up to play, to John Leech for refereeing, to Phillipa for being physio for the day, and to all of those people who came along to support. Also a big thankyou to Albie Holt and Johan Burger for cooking the lovely joints of pork and the home made boerwoers sausages.
See you all in 10 years time????
