James Herbert steps down as 1st XV head coach after 6 years!

Lauren Beney2 Apr - 17:48

James Herbert has announced his plans to step down as head coach as we close out the 25/26 season!

James has been a superb coach for our club and he has really bought into our ethos of promoting and developing from within. When he joined our club we were at the beginning of a re-build following a number of retirements and with his support, desire and tenacity have really helped us push on.

Well over 90% of our first team players this season have come from our youth set up and a number of these started their senior rugby journey when James first joined us 6 years ago.

James and his family are always welcome at Braintree for a game, a dinner or a beer and we would love to wish them all the best for the future.

When James joined us back in 2019 he had one goal. That goal being promotion and within his last 6 years he was able to push our 1st XV to just that; promotion to level 6 last season and is fighting hard to help us stay there.

Once again, from the boys, the committee & the whole club, we would like to say a massive thank you to James for all of his hard work, time & dedication!
