Sunday 14th January saw the Warriors on the road again this time to Cambridge for the next round of the Eastern Counties Conference for a rescheduled game that the last cold spell had claimed victim to.

With another good squad travelling it was soon time to play.

With out a cloud in the sky and the sun shining it was deceptively cold.
But this didn’t slow our girls down and they started at a rapid pace with Jess going over for our first try after a lovely move.

With our girls regaining possession after the restart we set about applying pressure with several good pods and some nice of loads Cambridge were holding firm in defence but eventually after several crash balls down the middle we had created the space to pass the ball out wide and once again Jess was over for a second try. With the conversion missed it was 0-12

With Cambridge winning back the ball after the restart due to a knock on from the kickoff we were caught napping and a fast break by the saw them hit straight back and we conceded our first try in the last 2 games. With their conversion missed it was 5-12
In the next passage we were once again in possession and trying to make ground but with some solid defensive tackles by Cambridge it was proving difficult to make ground. After several back and forth we slowly started to gain ground,
Once again our strength was proving unstoppable as we made ground but with some great defensive effort the ball get held up and we failed to advance the score board, As we regained possession once again we was on the attack and this time with the ball moved about Olivia was over for another try and with Scarrlett converting it was 5-19
With our girls stealing the ball at a break down but the ref calling a penalty for something earlier they took a quick and go and was thru our defence to score and convert to bring them back to 12-19.
As Cambridge restart with a long kick and a knock on by our girls they have possession inside our 22 but from the resulting scrum we win the ball back and set off once again up the pitch.
With a lovely series of pod’s forming on the far wing Cambridge come up flat in defence and as we recycle the ball Scarrlett decided it’s time to kick it over them for our backs to chase, although they recover we are straight on them and with the Saints struggling to make ground we turn the ball over and are back in possession on their 22 and with a series of strong plays we are over again for Freya to score this time wide on the left, the conversion was missed form the difficult angle and its 12-24.

Our girls are straight back at the from the kick off and this ends with Scarlett C scoring this time with kicking proving difficult in the cold conditions it was 12-29
Next Scarrlett O scores and this time converted her own try the scoreboard is ticking along nicely at 12-36. With our girls confidence really growing we have a great passage of play with Olivia scoring again then it’s Ella R turn with a powerful move and with both converted it’s suddenly 12-50.
With the game all but won we have a little lapse and let Cambridge thru for a try and conversion but we hit straight back with another lovely move that s in Leah going over for try and as Scarrlett converts again it’s 19-57
All credit to Cambridge who don’t give up and once again manage a break to score under the posts and with the resulting conversion it’s 26-57.
With the end of the game approaching there was still time for Olivia to score 2 more tries as far in the corner as she could, much to the kickers displeasure and also Scarlett C to get one that was converted the ref blows time and Braintree Warriors put up an impressive 26-74 away win.
