Sunday the 21st January saw the next round of the Eastern Counties Conference and Braintree were playing host to an undefeated Shelford Girls u16’s team.

After starting this seasons campaign in the ECC with a narrow lost away @Norwich our girls had produced a fine run of game with victories on the road and at home.

Today though would be a big test as Shelford were also on a winning run.

With Braintree kicking off and playing into the strengthening wind of storm Isha that was moving in across the country it was game time

With our girls right on it from the start the tackles were flying in and after a series of attacks we went over for the first try of the game, this was converted and it was a great start.
With the girls not letting up every player was making tackles and doing everything to stop Shelford getting back on terms, then with another great passage of play we score again and with it once again converted it was the perfect start.
Throughout the first half our girls all kept working and although Shelford did manage to score a try they were forced into the corner that it couldn’t be converted and with more fantastic teamwork Braintree went into half time with a 19-5 lead.
Onto the second half and our power really started to show with a strong replacement bench we kept up the pressure and kept scoring at regular intervals and no matter what Shelford did our defence stood strong with Braintree scoring 4 more tries and another conversion the final whistle blew on an impressive 41-5 victory for the u16’s Warriors
What a great team effort by everyone. Try scores were Olivia Hiscocks, Leah Butler, Scarrlett Oliver, Alexia Chaplin, Anri Earle and Ella Jackson conversion kicks by Scarrlett Oliver.
