Braintree were rampant in this very one-sided friendly against a brave, but hopelessly outclassed, under-strength Upminster. Braintree stamped their authority on the game right from the start, winning five successive opposition scrums. It was clear this game was theirs for the taking.
Tries came think and fast from all over the field. Joe Young, full back, opened the account within a few minutes, and was quickly followed by centre Bryn Donald, No 8 James Caulfield, wingers Tom Osborn and Olly Williams, fly half Danny Brand, hooker Jake Parkin and centre Jacob Bryant.
Particular mention must go to Parkin, who scorched down the field only to be tackled a metre from the line and generously off loaded to Donald for what must be the easiest try he will ever score. It was a thorough and convincing performance.
Tries: Young (2), Donald (2), Caulfield, Osborn, Williams (2), Brand, Parkin, Bryant
Drop Goal: Caulfield
