Despite the aggressive nature of the opposing sides, Braintree under 10's shine through in the glorious sun and biting wind.
Several games were played and two pitches were being used, to play A squads and development squads alike. Braintree remained unbeaten in all their games with all teams using technique and great moves to outplay the opposition.
Pitch 1 Braintree meet Chobham & Eaton Manor
Match 1 - Braintree met Chobham and a forceful game ensued. Braintree kept their mark and the opposition spent the majority of the game in their own half, unable to breakthrough our defences. After a tough game Braintree beat Chobham 1-0.
Match 2 - In their second match Braintree played Eaton Manor and using space to their advantage, holding the opposition back with excellent tackling and with fantastic support of each other and communication they won a convincing 2-0.
Match 3 - Braintree met Chobham again and it was a little like de ja vu. Holding the visitors in their own half and by communicating and passing effectively, Braintree again won their match with assurance, 2-0.
Pitch 2 Braintree meet Upper Clapton, Chobham and Eaton Manor
Match 1 - The under 10's played a great game, holding Upper Clapton back with great tackling and passing. A fantastic try was scored by Braintree early on, only to end in a 1-1 draw when UC scored in the final seconds of the match.
Match 2 - Again, Braintree showed great skill in this game, but sadly on the 2 occasions the boys put the ball down over the line, the tries were disallowed. They kept strong and maintained their defensive line and Chobham just couldn't break through. The final score was nil-nil.
Match 3 - The final game on pitch 2 was a steal. The boys met Eaton Manor and through amazing tackling, passing and a consistent use of space and opportunities thrown their way, they won a resounding 6-0 victory. A cool hat-trick was scored by Arthur and despite some hard knocks, the team played outstanding rugby.
Overall it was a fabulous morning of rugby with every player working really hard for the squad to get some great results.
Well played everyone, what a team!
