Braintree Under 13's started the season with a bang. With 14 players on the day, they threw everything they had at a big Rochford team, and came out well on top.
With six tries to one, Braintree were dominant from the start. This was the U13's first ever match with a full back row, and they went to town on the opposition with four of the tries coming from the back row.
Three tries came from no.8 Callum "Doughnut" Doughty, who spent the entire game on the rampage. Great support from flanker Ryan Staniland led to his first try of the season, whilst a sharp blind-side break from the scrum by half-back Ethan Brand netted him his first for the season too.
Ben "Stig" Attreed kept the backs on the score sheet with a blistering run, and some great kicking from Will Buckle collected 6 points from conversions.
Every one of Braintree's Under 13's put everything they had into the match, and being one short from the start had to give every ounce of energy. This included a great first ever club game for Charlie Reeder.
A great result, and a great start to the season - well done Braintree!
