Debut Essex Cup Match
On another bright autumn morning Braintree played hosts to Eaton Manor in their debut of the Essex Cup competition.
The game started at a quick tempo with both teams competing well at the breakdown and looking to get their fast runners into space. For most of the first half Braintree matched their opponents. The pack won the majority of the scrums and the team worked together to mount a solid defence. As the half wore on the pressure from Eaton Manor began to tell and by the break, they had crossed over three times.
In the second half Braintree rallied and dug deep. Some quick passing saw them gain ground in the opponent’s half and they managed to run the ball in to put themselves on the score board and give themselves a chance of getting back into the match.
Despite battling hard Eaton Manor again began to exert pressure and by the end of the match had run out as 5 - 35 winners. Once again Braintree fought hard and gave a good account of themselves and improvement across the squad can be seen.
