A strong and spirited effort from the lads this weekend, as Braintree II took on a powerful Colchester III side away from home.

We started brilliantly, with early tries from Henry Williams and Paul Evans, both converted by Dan Scott, giving us an early lead and plenty of confidence. Colchester hit back before the break, and a yellow card for Henry Williams just before half-time meant we had to dig deep defensively while a man down.

Back to full strength in the second half, the boys kept fighting. Henry made up for his time in the bin with a second try, while Michael Benfield added another, both converted by Mitchell Rosindale. Despite Colchester’s late surge, Braintree never stopped competing and showed real character throughout.

Plenty of positives to take and lots to build on — a great team effort from the lads in black and gold! ??
